On 2 August 2027 the Moon will cover the Sun over Egypt for up to 6 minutes and 23 seconds near Luxor. It is the longest total solar eclipse visible from land between 1991 and 2114, and Egypt sits right in the middle of the path. Dabuka has run trips in Egypt since 1996, and we have built our eclipse programmes around places we know well: the Nile Valley, Middle Egypt, the Western Desert and the Red Sea coast.

Below are all our solar eclipse 2027 tours. Every eclipse trip puts you in the path of totality on 2 August, with guides who know the sites and a fixed plan for eclipse day. Book by enquiry or WhatsApp; our team confirms availability and the final price.

Where to watch the eclipse in Egypt

Luxor and the Nile Valley get the longest totality, a little over six minutes, with temples on both banks of the river. Expect more visitors here than anywhere else in Egypt that week.

Minya and Assiut in Middle Egypt see a slightly shorter totality, with far fewer people and easy access to sites such as Tell el-Amarna and Beni Hassan.

The Western Desert, around the Black Desert and the White Desert, gives you open horizons, dry air and dark skies for the nights before and after.

The Red Sea coast combines eclipse day with diving, snorkelling and day trips to Dendera and Abydos.

Questions we hear often

When is the total solar eclipse in Egypt?

On Monday, 2 August 2027. Totality crosses Egypt around midday, and near Luxor it lasts up to 6 minutes and 23 seconds.

Will the weather be clear?

August in Upper Egypt is hot and almost always cloudless, which is why Egypt is one of the best places to watch this eclipse. Expect daytime temperatures above 40 °C in the Nile Valley.

Do I need eclipse glasses?

Yes, for all partial phases before and after totality. Only take them off during totality itself. Ask us about certified eclipse glasses when you book.

How early should I book?

Hotels and Nile boats in the path of totality are already filling up. Our trips have limited places, so we recommend enquiring as soon as you know your dates.

Can you build a private eclipse trip?

Yes. Most of our programmes can run as private trips, and we can combine eclipse day with the desert, the Nile, Lake Nasser or the Red Sea.
