Starting in Muscat, you'll visit significant prehistoric rock art sites, marvel at ancient engravings, and camp among towering dunes in Wahiba Sands. Follow also local tracks through diverse dune formations, encounter the famous racing camels, and enjoy in essence the unique beauty of the desert.
As you journey towards Hamra Ad Duru, you'll experience at this point traditional Omani hospitality and witness the serene beauty of the landscape. Additionally explore the Fahud region, where Oman’s first oil discovery was made, and continue afterwards to Wadi Aswad, camping amidst picturesque dunes. Cross the challenging terrain of Umm Al Samim, known for its formidable salt swamps, and after that camp near recently discovered landmarks.
Discover the star dunes of the southeastern Empty Quarter, formed by hard quartz grains from the Dhofar and Hajar Mountains, and navigate through the beautiful white baby dunes of Al Sahma sands. Occasionally, refresh your supplies at Muqshin Wadi, adorned with a giant acacia jungle, and continue to the mega dunes country, where long walks and dune climbs await.
Spend two days exploring the area, in particular seeking new routes through the dunes away from graded tracks. Our tour package includes accommodation in desert camps, transportation between destinations, guided tours, meals as specified in the itinerary, and all necessary permits and entrance fees.
Accommodation will be in comfortable desert camps equipped with basic amenities. You'll experience traditional Bedouin-style camping, immersing yourself in the authentic desert environment.
Pack light, breathable clothing suitable for desert conditions, including long-sleeved shirts, trousers, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Additionally, bring sturdy walking shoes, a refillable water bottle, a flashlight, and personal toiletries.
While children are welcome, desert travel can be physically demanding and may not be suitable for very young children or infants. Assess your child's comfort level with long drives and outdoor activities before booking.
