The Perseids, An Astronomical Encore After the Eclipse
Ten days after totality, the sky puts on a second show. The Perseid meteor shower , debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, burning up in Earth's atmosphere at around 59 km/s, peaks on the night of August 12–13, 2027.
This year the timing is exceptional: in Aswan, the moon doesn't rise until around 7:35am, and even then it's just a barely-there sliver, only about 2.1% illuminated. That means the entire night stays essentially moonless, about as good as meteor-watching conditions get.
Known for their speed, brightness, and long glowing trails, the Perseids are widely regarded, including by NASA, as one of the best meteor showers of the year, with an unusually high number of fireballs. Under Egypt's dark desert skies, especially in the region south of Aswan, far from artificial light, expect exceptional viewing conditions for this natural fireworks display.
Limited to 10 participants, this tour offers a personal and immersive experience

Please note that international and domestic flights are not included in the quoted price. Airlines typically release their flight schedules and fares approximately one year in advance; therefore, flights for July - August 2027 will become available around September 2026.
Should you wish to receive an offer for international or domestic flights, we kindly ask you to complete the flight request form on our website. Once flight options become available, we will prepare and forward an offer for your review.
Please be aware that submitting the request form does not constitute a booking order. We will only proceed with a flight reservation upon receiving your explicit written approval.
Furthermore, please note that flights are an external service provided solely by the airline, and Dabuka does not have control over airline-related matters. Any delays, schedule changes, or baggage issues fall under the responsibility of the operating carrier. We therefore recommend obtaining appropriate travel insurance should you wish to be covered for such circumstances.
As we live in Egypt and know the country very well, and based on our previous experiences during the 2006 eclipse in Salloum and the opening of the GEM in November 2025, we are well aware of the challenges of observing the eclipse in Luxor. Luxor is expected to be extremely crowded, and last-minute changes by authorities could affect access or viewing conditions.
Therefore, we recommend alternative observation locations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. We continuously monitor developments and work closely with leading astronomers and universities to select the best possible sites.
For 2 August 2027, we will offer multiple alternative observation locations, allowing participants to choose the spot that best suits their preferences. This ensures that everyone can fully enjoy the eclipse, away from the crowds and potential disruptions in Luxor.
For those who still wish to experience the eclipse in Luxor, suitable tours can also be found on our website.
We are also happy to provide personal consultations by appointment to help you choose the observation location that best suits your preferences and ensure an optimal eclipse experience.
