Abydos

At 07:00 am pick up from your Hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor  then you will be transferred by a private A/C Vehicle to Abydos city.

First, visit Abydos Temple (around 135 km from Luxor). Abydos Temple is dedicated to the Ancient Egyptian god of the underworld, and may be the best preserved in Egypt with full color still visible on its walls.

The ancient Egyptians believed that god (Lord of the underworld) to be buried there. The temple was built by King Seti I, and completed by King Ramses II, known as temple of Seti I.  The paintings of the Gods and Pharaohs on the walls of the Osiris Temple at Abydos are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt.

Dendera Temple

Than continue to Dendara to visit the Temple of Hathor, goddess of love and joy.

Hathor was among the most important and popular deities in ancient Egypt. She was associated with music, joy, dance and motherhood; she was also known as the lady of the sky. Her main cult center was at Dendera where one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt stands today. The entrance of the temple, with six massive columns surmounted with the head of Hathor, is considered among the most beautiful monuments in Egypt. Sistrums (a musical instrument) closely associated with the goddess, frame her head.

The temple of Dendera dates back to the Ptolemaic Period, although evidence points to older structures once existing on the site, dating as far back as king Pepy I, from the Old Kingdom. Among the temple’s most notable features are astronomical engravings on its ceiling.

At the end of the tour around 5 pm transfer back to the hotel in Luxor .
