28 July – 7 August 2027

El Quseir · Dendera · Assiut · Total Solar Eclipse · Abydos · El Quseir

Experience the Total Solar Eclipse of 2 August 2027 while combining the event with a relaxed Red Sea holiday and a journey into one of Egypt's less-visited regions.

Begin and end your journey on the Red Sea at Mövenpick El Quseir, with time to relax, swim and enjoy the coast. In between, travel into Upper Egypt and stay in Assiut, visiting the temples of Dendera and Abydos before experiencing totality from a specially organised desert observation location.

On eclipse day, the focus is entirely on the sky. Our team handles the transportation, permits and local logistics, allowing you to concentrate on the experience.

This journey deliberately avoids the classic Cairo–Luxor–Aswan circuit. Instead, it combines the Red Sea with Dendera, Abydos and Assiut, places that remain well beyond the usual Egyptian tourist route.

After the eclipse, return to the Red Sea for several more days to relax and enjoy the coast before departure.

11 days · 10 nights · 4 nights El Quseir · 3 nights Assiut · 3 nights El Quseir

A comfortable way to experience one of the most extraordinary astronomical events of our lifetime, viewed from a private observation site chosen specifically for the occasion, without turning the entire journey into an eclipse expedition.

THE EXPERIENCE

This is not a conventional Egypt sightseeing tour.

It combines:

7 nights on the Red Sea
Visit of Dendera
3 nights in Assiut
A specially organised desert observation experience
Total Solar Eclipse, 2 August 2027
Abydos
El Quseir

And most importantly:

A journey designed around an event that will not happen again in Egypt in this way.

And the timing offers another astronomical highlight.

Around 30–31 July, the Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids are both active. Under the dark Egyptian desert sky, you may see meteors and occasional bright fireballs alongside the Milky Way and the summer night sky.

At the camp there will be time to settle in, enjoy lunch and prepare for the eclipse.

Then comes the moment we have travelled to Egypt for:

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, 2 AUGUST 2027

For several extraordinary minutes, daylight will disappear and the Moon will completely cover the Sun.

The desert will fall into darkness.

The temperature changes.

The horizon glows.

And the solar corona becomes visible around the black disk of the Moon.

This is not an event that can simply be repeated next year.

After the eclipse, we return to Assiut.

Meals: Half Board

After the excitement of the eclipse, this is a day to simply take it all in.

We leave Assiut in the morning and travel towards Abydos, one of the most important ancient religious sites in Egypt.

With a private guide, we visit the magnificent Temple of Seti I, renowned for its beautifully preserved reliefs and its extraordinary historical and religious significance.

Abydos is considerably less visited than Egypt's major tourist attractions, making it a particularly fitting destination for travellers who prefer to explore beyond the mainstream.

After the visit, we continue eastwards towards the Red Sea.

By evening we return to El Quseir and the Mövenpick Resort.
